Getting your Private hire badge through Wolverhampton council

The Wolverhampton badge is the Holy Grail

It appears that an increasing number of individuals are obtaining their Private Hire badge from Wolverhampton Council instead of their local council. There are several reasons why this trend may be occurring. One reason is that Wolverhampton Council has a less rigorous application process compared to other councils, as they do not require a practical driving test to be taken. Additionally, their vehicle inspection standards may not be as strict, allowing drivers to use cars up to 11 years and 6 months old. Finally, the multiple-choice test required by Wolverhampton Council may be considered easier than those of other councils, though success is not guaranteed.

How long did it take to get a private hire badge through Wolverhampton Council?

It took me approximately five months for me to receive my private hire badge, from the time I applied for the course until I received my license plate and was able to begin driving.

Growing number of drivers and my concern

While I also work as a private hire driver, it is not my primary occupation. However, I have become increasingly concerned with the number of new private hire drivers in my area licensed with Wolverhampton Council. It seems as though becoming a private hire driver with this council is relatively easy, as I observe at least two new drivers on the road every day. This has led to an increase of private hire vehicles. I cannot help but wonder if this surge in new drivers is due to the ease of becoming a private hire driver with Wolverhampton Council, with many people hoping to earn a daily income of £100 or more. Well we will find out if this possible as we progress in the blog.
